Gender Issues When gender issues in society and the Church came to the fore, it precipitated an avalanche, carrying with it other marginalised and minority groups all seeking justice. Also, in an increasingly global society, multicultural and multifaceted, we find God imaged variously, while most of traditional Christianity is still deeply imbued with masculine symbolism. Two points may be made: the first, that God is Spirit and genderless but all-inclusive; the second, that every human being has both masculine and feminine traits requiring nurture. Resolution depends on mutual recognition and appreciation. In this issue we have an overview of the recent history of the women's movements, personal reflections and experience and an angle on the continuing debate.
